The answer is obvious. The primary sponsors of Al Qaeda and other Sunni terrorists are likely none other than the “pro-Western” Arab oil-producing states. The citizens of these countries are relatively poor, yet, their ruling princes pocket the national oil wealth and live in incredible opulence.

Yet Obama won't allow the Keystone pipeline

What does this have to do with the Keystone pipeline?

Agree with first reply. What on earth does financing terror have to do with a pipeline?

I am glad to see Americans agree that funding terrorism is wrong.

Petch is one of those who suffer from Obama Derangement Syndrome; he finds any excuse, even the least remotely possible one, to blame Obama on something. Had a bad day at work? Obama's fault. Have a bad itch you can't get rid of? It's Obama Water, etc.

And the US.

The US wasn't funding al-Qaeda activities in Yugoslavia?

Yes, you were.

And yet you murdered King Faisal II in cold blood; murdered General Qasim in cold-blood; attempted 3x to murder Prime Minister Mossadeq of Iran, and then overthrew his government and installed the Shah; you installed and supported King Hussein of Jordan, and then King Abdullah of Jordan and the King Abdullah II, who disbanded parliament.

You overthrew the Syrian government.

You repeatedly attempted to murder and overthrow the government of Nasser (Egypt) for the heinous crime of Declaring Neutrality While Non-White.

Worse than that, Nasser overthrew King Farouk. I'm guessing you don't understand that the Saudis considered that a threat to monarchy.

Thread Fail O' The Day.

How stupid and ignorant are Keystone supporters?

Let's find out.

US law prohibits the export of crude oil. Ford exempted Alaskan North Slope Crude (including Prudhoe Bay). Clinton -- under tremendous pressure from the State of California, exempted a certain number of barrels of California Heavy.

Let's see if we can think critically for once in our lives and apply some freaking common sense.

If it is illegal to export crude oil, then what is the implication of that?

Well, it means every barrel of oil in the US must be refined, before it can be exported.

How many operating crude oil refineries exist in the US?

46.

How of those 46 operating refineries produce gasoline?

16.

Again, let's see if we can think critically and apply some freaking common sense.

What conclusions can you draw about refining capacity in the US?

Refining capacity is limited, restricted, static, unchanging etc etc etc....no matter what you do, with all 46 refineries running flat out at max capacity, you can only refine X barrels of oil per day, and no more than that.

What conclusions can you draw about gasoline supply in the US?

No matter what you do, with all 16 refineries running flat out at max capacity, you can only refine X barrels of oil per day into gasoline, and no more than that.

Now....who wants to ask a really stupid question like, "Why is the US importing gasoline?"

Now....who wants to ask another really stupid question like, "If the US is importing gasoline, why is the US exporting gasoline?"

I just explained why.

California Heavy: 1 barrel yields 6 gallons of gasoline
Oklahoma Heavy: 1 barrel yields 6 gallons of gasoline
Louisiana Heavy: 1 barrel yields 6 gallons of gasoline

If you wanted to increase the gasoline supply in the US, what could you do?

Build another refinery? Yeah, but that works only if you can increase your oil production. There's a better way...

Illinois Intermediate: 1 barrel yields 13 gallons of gasoline

Boooom! Just like that you have -- through the magic of organic chemistry -- doubled your gasoline supply.

What if you need to increase your gasoline supply to ensure you can meet future demand from US consumers?

Tijuana Light, Bonny Light, Basra Light, Arabian Light, Brent Blend: 1 barrel yields 22-24 gallons gasoline.

Wow! Through the magic of organic chemistry, you have once again doubled your gasoline supply, without building new refineries.

What does the OP and all Keystone supporters want?

The OP and Keystone supporters want to cripple the economy of the US, by importing Canadian Tar Sands.

Tar Sands: 1 barrel yields 4-7 gallons of gasoline

What happens to the gasoline supply in the US? It decreases.

What happens to the price of gasoline in the US? It sky-rockets.

Don't forget that Bush signed off on EPA Tier 3, which restricts gasoline to 15 ppm of Sulfur.

Tijuana Light with 1,000 ppm is no big deal.....90 minutes per barrel on Sulfur Redux and you're done.

East Texas Sour? That's 50,000 ppm.

Canadian Tar Sands?

80,000 ppm to 90,000 pm depending on which field.

To run Sulfur Redux on Tar Sands for every 3 days of production, you lose 1 day.

What happens to the gasoline supply in the US? It decreases.

What happens to the price of gasoline in the US? It sky-rockets.

Now does everyone understand why you are simultaneously importing and exporting gasoline?

Unita Basin Black Wax, Fracked Oil.....those are garbage oils.

You run the them through the refinery producing kerosene (aviation fuel), gasoline, diesels, bunker fuel or whatever you want....and you don't spend the time or money to run the Sulfur Redux.

You cannot sell that gasoline or diesel in the US, but you can export it to other countries, and better still, you get a higher profit exporting gasoline than selling gasoline in the US.

So....how's "Drill, baby, drill!" working out for everyone?

I told you all right here on C-D that was a failed policy and you would suffer.

So......make my day.....bring the Keystone down, and watch gasoline prices hit $7-$8/gallon.

Laughing at the superior intellect....

Mircea

I always am entertained by Mircea. He sounds so right to himself I imagine.

Actually no we dont tend to build more refinery's, we tend to expand existing ones. like the Port arthur one that just recently increased its crude oil capacity from 275,000 barrels a day to 600,000.

As for crude oil production? You have noticed how much is coming out of North Dakota recently haven't you?

So basically we're getting more oil, and making more gasoline.

That of course ties in directly with this foolish statement:

More lies.

There are many people with this personality type that loves to blame their own failures on others. Attacking Obama eases the pain for him I guess...
