The two respondents so far appear to me to have no sense of history. So begins my lecture.
In the days of Watergate, Woodward and Bernstein dug deep and found scandal, and I mean something dangerous that Nixon's minions were doing (I firmly believe that Nixon was lied to by his subordinates and was not the originator of the Watergate break-in).
A lot of idealistic young people entered the political process at the time. Many more entered the field of journalism, with the very noble goal of righting wrongs and making this a better society. The Dems made great gains in the House and the Senate at the time, and in the states, state legislatures, and in state governorship's as well.
Well, those young people are now The Establishment. What is it that The Establishment does? Pursue its agendas.
Why do you think those establishments are so quick to denounce the new media, the blogs and the news sites? Because they are defending their turf.
I keep reading post by rightwingers that the media slants everything for Obama or the Dem's.
What is in it for the Media to do this?
News sells and imo any reporter will report on anything that will generate hits on the articles they post.
He who controls the message, controls the money.
Control the money and you control the world.
More than one of our founding fathers owned the message, as a printer/publisher.
The message is loud.
Remember the FCC and how strict it once was? Control of the message has been governments job since this nation was founded.
They have been trying to gain full control of the internet, since its public creation, from government hands.
Makes you wonder who is the shadow government really running the show?
It's a conspiracy of course. It's the go to escape hatch for wingnuts.
