Just wondering if you support Target's right to provide a family friendly and safe environment, free of firearms?

For the record, before the name calling starts, I'm not sure how I feel about either company's decision. (HL is hypocritical, but I'm not sure that I disagree with their rights, as business owners. Same with Target)

Absolutely. I've said it in threads in the past. Their property, their rules.

This is my stance too, but I find it's never that simple. In fairness to BOTH sides of many issues, one person's right to do one thing is often at odds for another person not to.

I appreciate your response (repped), and I hope to have an intelligent discussion about this. THanks.

It's a misguided policy (I have lived in Wyoming and now live in Idaho and there are plenty of families in those states who shop in stores such as Target with at least one member of those families carrying. They're still pretty friendly and safe places). But if Target wants to go that route they should be free to do so.

Private property means they decide how to conduct their business within the framework of the law. If people don't like it, go elsewhere.

I don't support hobby lobbies right (Public companies aren't people who have religious beliefs no matter what this stupid court says)

with that being said, a company does have the right to dictate rules for their business and should be able to turn away anyone for any reason

Target isn't the only store around.
Their business, their rules.

If you insist on carrying then go somewhere else.

Yes, If Target does not want the business of gun carrying folk that is their call. I support their right to make that decision and would oppose any government action to force them to operate in any other manner. I support gun ownership and the right to carry, but only when permitted by the property owner.

I have no problem with it. I'm not forced to carry and I'm not forced to shop at Target.
