It seems strange that the local paper has just about boycotted this story. I read today in the New York Post a story that he is now taking off base visits to libraries, markets and fast food joints. I personally don't care what he does but I don't understand the media blackout.

Perhaps the media blackout is to honor those with true combat related issues receiving care here and not to rub their noses in the fact that this man is being treated in the same regard given the story.....there is no need to allow his actions to cause anymore harm than he already has to our nation, our vets and our true war heros!

KSAT just reported on his leaving the base today. KENS reported when he got here. Not much more to report unless you want to read daily stories of "well today Bowe farted"

It's on the front page of today's Express-News.

Bergdahl going out to S.A. restaurants, stores - San Antonio Express-News

The story says that the Army didn't tell the media he was leaving the base until yesterday.

Of course it will be on the SA news after being posted here. Seems like some reporters use this website for story ideas.

The media will do whatever gets the most attention for ratings. A huge number of people are upset about the entire situation, so obvisouly the idea of him out on the town will cause strife, and media attention.

Whatever comes out in the Army's investigation of his actions, the last seven years were certainly not a picnic for this young man. Let him be in peace for the time being.

I'm ok with that IF you can create a way where the the families of those who died trying to find and save him after HIS ignorant behavior cost their loved ones their lives get the same peace and consideration.....can you provide that????

Bergdahl's "behavior" hasn't been proven by the military justice system yet, just alleged by fellow soldiers. The Pat Tillman situation should have proven that there are multiple sides to military stories. We may never know the truth about this one, either. In any case, isn't he entitled to our nation's foundational legal principle of "innocent until proven guilty?"

To bring this topic back to San Antonio, what do we think about the local folks who have taken it upon themselves to wish Bergdahl well when they see him in these public places?

I would not do anything other myself, the "neutral to wishing him well" reception he has received just shows our city has class....my personal choice would be to ignore him and let him go about his business....and I suppose that would put me in the "nuteral" group. I would not display my personal feeling towards him in public and it was only because it was being "discussed" that my personal views were shared.
