CNN put out a list of natural wonders by state:
50 states, 50 spots: Natural wonders

Judging from the pictures I would pick:

Best:

Oregon - crater lake
Idaho
Hawaii

Lamest:

Connecticut: water... We have water here too
Wisconsin: birds!
Mississippi: more birds!
Arkansas: bees!

This is political? Or controversial?

They had to pick something from the states that suck. Hence the "lamest" tag.

If you simply went 50 from the U.S. the overwhelming number of entries would be from Hawaii, Alaska, California, and a splashing from the other western states.

The only thing east of the Rockies that I can think of that can inspire any kind of "wow" factor would be Niagara Falls.

So I can drive I-20 through the South and learn all about the birds and the bees?

Love the serene picture for Ohio of Hocking Hills. Believe it or not, my state has a lot of beauty in nature. Not at all dull, boring, and blah as the haters make it out to be.

Nah, it is boring.

Everything looks roughly the same: Hocking Hills, Cuyahoga Natl. Park, Mill Creek Park, etc. They're all the same.
