Virginia police have obtained a search warrant to photograph the erect penis of a 17-year-old facing felony child-pornography charges for sexting an explicit video to his 15-year-old girlfriend, the boy's lawyer says.

If he doesn't cooperate, the Manassas City Police Department has threatened to take him to a hospital and medically induce an erection with an injection, attorney Jessica Harbeson Foster told The Washington Post.

Foster said the boy sent the video after she sent him photos of herself; the content has not been described. The girl has not been charged.
Lawyer: Va. cops want to photograph teen's erect penis (USA Today)

This is outrageous. He's 17 and she's 15 - not a huge difference in age. She sent him nude photos of herself, but only the boy is being charged. And medically-inducing an erection so the police can take a picture of it? It's more than outrageous, actually. It's sick.

This country is so strange sometimes. This sounds like a story out of Dubai or something...

Who really cares what two teenagers send to each other, when so many kids that age are having sex already to begin with. Both are underage, so why is one being held to a higher standard? What a load of crap...

The other thing is that if this kid gets found guilty he'll be a sex offender, which will basically result in being stigmatized as that for the rest of his life--that doesn't go off your record neccesarily.
(This happened years ago to a friend of mine when he was 16 years ago and got caught in his 14 year old girlfriend's bed and actually was found guilty and declared a sex offender--for consensual sex with both being underaged.)

Sounds pervy, like phone records isn't enough???

Wouldn't making this kid go through this be the same as manufacturing porn with an underage male???

Why waste money on "medicine" when they can just show him pictures of his girlfriend?

Wow...

I don't even know where to begin. I'll just say the obvious, they're both minors. Can't we just call this kids being stupid and be done? Sending videos or photos, though not a good idea, is hardly the worst thing kids their age do. And really, it can be harmless, so long as one doesn't put the video or pics on the internet for others to see.

And forcing an erection? Why? What purpose would that actually serve? Identifying him in the video? Since when is a penis a good way to determine who's who in a picture?

Amazing just when one thinks it can't get any weirder. Sad that this is tax dollars at work here. Since when should 2 teenagers with hormones and bad judgement become such a focus?

What is being described sounds very sick. Makes one wonder if there isn't a database somewhere of such photos.

Not sure how that squares with a presumption of innocence.

Besides, all the kid has to do is imagine Hilary Clinton nude and the erection inducing drugs will be rendered useless.

This is one reason the whole registry idea needs rethinking.

This area has been used, as a blank check much like the Big T. Scary to think of lives ruined by someone simply using a virus to plant items.

Yes, it's really bizarre the police are just doing the actual charged crime the kid is supposedly guilty of...

Can the Manassas Police Department just step back for a second and realize how crazy what they're proposing to do is?

Its not the registry that is the problem, it is who is put on it any why.
