The key to being rich is not spending your money. Invest it and spend the revenue/profits of that investment.
Who said anything about all of their money. We're only talking about $41k here. You might want to re-read the OP and then re-read my retort. The OP is claiming that this is why you don't give poorer people money yet he's not established what a poorer person is, how many of them spend money when there's this type of error nor how many richer people spend or don't spend the money from this kind of error.

OP you have a certain opinion. You're using this article to support that opinion despite the fact it has little to nothing to do with the conclusion you espouse.

All that article is an example of is people being greedy and stupid. Poor, middle class, rich makes zero difference. If you put a million dollars in the cars of 10 people in each class, a few in each class may try to find the rightful owner or turn it into the police, etc. And about an equal number are going to go hog wild in spending. Class and wealth has zero to do with it. It's basic human nature and greed.

I had about 15 grand stolen from me by the federal government (IRS) last year. But I can't really consider the gov. wealthy, considering all that debt they carry around.

Did you know this one single person did X, thus all people are exactly like him?

Not sure where you read that, but the basic income proposals I've read are more along the lines of $3000/year. Many people already receive that amount in the form of unemployment benefits, food stamps, etc.

Incorrect:

The Swiss are thinking about giving each citizen $2500 USD (2800 Swiss francs) a MONTH in basic income. And I believe this income is in addition other "basic" needs in Switzerland as well such as healthcare.

The point I am making is this is a perfect example of why basic income is a very bad idea.

I posted on another thread about "what happens when that basic income money runs out?" This guy ran out of money. He over drew at the bank on that money.

You give someone money. Not a whole lot of money. But some money. Like the Swiss propose. Like $2500 a month in USD. What happens when they run out of that money? And they have no job. You let them suffer also? The purpose of basic income is to raise people's standard of living. It's like the liberal/socialist dream of making lower income people "feel better". Fine. Everyone feels better.

But what happens when people mis manage their basic income? That's the question many liberals don't want to answer. Liberals hate to answer "tough luck". "deal with it". Liberals are in a catch-22 when dealing with the what ifs. They don't want to know the answer.

This guy is going to jail. Each time something like this happens, these goofballs assume that the worst that will happen to them is to go through bankruptcy, not knowing the criminal charges that are on their way.
