The pundits on TV were talking about the crisis at the Texas/Mexico border are saying that all we need to do is send those Central American Countries- that are having such terrible trouble with poverty and crime- lots of money and technical assistance to make them rebuild their countries. In other words, if we nation build those depressed Central American Countries they won't send the illegal aliens adults and kids to us anymore.

Should we try to nation build Central America to help solve the problem with illegal immigration?

I for one, would be extremely grateful if you would provide a link to those "Pundits" who are saying the solution to the illegal immigration problem is to provide lots of money and technical assistance to El Salvador, Nicaragua and Guatemala.
I tried some different entries in google, but each time came up empty.
Once I have a reputable link that is the basis of your postulation, I will gladly participate in your thread and corresponding poll.
Thank you.

I think the money would be better spent on enforcing our employment and immigration laws. Remove the bait and we remove the problem. No need to build nations.

The United States has been nation building places like Honduras, El Salvador, Guatamala and Nicaragua and lets not forget Panama. We have had a presence in these nations since the late 19th Century and we have routinely deposed Central America Geralissimos if they cause problems for United Fruit, Big Tobacco, Hershey's Foods and Folger's Coffee. Panama was a province of Columbia until TR wanted to build the Canal and Bogota bulked and would not sign over the needed real esrtate. We created Panama by force and then they (so called Panamanians) signed over a strip of land that split the country in two for 99 years on which we built the Panama Canal) Reagan was right we stole Panama fair and square. . If the conditions in CetroAmerica are not to yout liking tou have only your country to blame for poor nation building.

You would do well to read about the life and times of Augusto Sandino and the US Marine invasion that resulted in his death and that put Anastasio Somoza in as President for life in Nicaragua. In Honduras it was a dictator named Lopez de Arellano, in Guatamala it was the assasination of a democratically elected President Arbenz by the CIA and his replacement by another Dictator. A lot of this nonsense is still going on in CentroAmerica with American backed death squads in El Salvador, Guatamala and Honduras. And the US invasion of Panma in 1989 and the recent replacement of the democratically elected President in Honduras. All handiwork of the usual suspects in the USA.

No, we should charge the cost of caring and returning illegals from their US foreign aid money. That goes for Mexico, too. Let them put a stop to it if they want our money.

Still waiting for the "Pundits" any pundits? Second hand Pundits? Anybody see any pundits around here?

You know the Pundits I'm talking about. The ones who give the OP's entire argument a foundation.

Here's one. He thinks DHS/HHS need to go down to these countries and pre-process the people before they make the trip. That will alleviate the immigration system here. ROFLMAO.

Idiots transcend all party affiliations. No party is safe from them. He's not a pundit. He's a Democratic congressman who is completely out of touch with reality. Must be up for reelection in a majority Hispanic district.

More "pundits" in Congress that have voiced their concerns of illegal rights over any changes to law/immigration policies.

Feinstein, Durbin, Leahy, Menendez, Gutierrez have all voiced strong opinions against changing the law and doing more in those countries to make life better for them so they don't want to come here.
