Democracy depends on an ignorant easily manipulated populace to function in the best interests of the ruling class.

I even wrote, that a family friend served on Homeland security, and the terrorists are here, they have camps here and someone wrote,

Your crazy, they are not here?

Well, they were here during 911 were they not, taking flying lessons and living in America.

The Boston Bombers were here and living here in the U.S.

But I guess I must be lying?

I mean, these people vote....and they only vote according to their political party, but that is all they know, they don't know any more, they don't care nor do they want to know any more????

and these people vote?

What's your take?
Anybody who believes those man-on-the-street videos are anywhere in the same realm with reality is gullible to an extent rarely seen in functioning adults.

Education level does not strongly correlate with voting patterns unless you tease race out of the statistics. Obama won 3 out of 4 education levels (less than HS, HS, postgraduate); Romney won those with a 4-year degree but not a graduate degree. In none of those categories was it a landslide.

My wife and I are both retired political and legislative analysts. We've long maintained that you'll never get rich betting on the collective intelligence and knowledge of the American electorate. Most of those who vote rely on sound bites, the views of the biased press and so-called broadcast media organizations, their unions, their political parties, social media, their ethnicity and their emotions. Real political knowledge among them is in woefully short supply as is any policy understanding.

At the end of the day, I can only control my vote.

Whether or not other voters are informed is beyond my control so I simply ignore the issue.

Wouldn't it be hard to know much when all governments hide many things???

A lot is more obvious than it appears (follow the money) can be ferreted out if one cares enough to cast an informed vote. Sadly, most don't want to take the time and make the effort.

This was years ago but, our local Congressmen was in town....an important votes was coming up.....I heard he was not going to vote for it.

After talking to him...I found out there was a "rider" on the bill that had nothing to do with the subject...but, would have been a disaster. ( before things were on line )

How is anyone supposed to know what is the truth???

So much is hid.

A person would have to make it a full time job just researching.

I like how so many on this thread post with this faux air of superiority as if they're so super informed themselves.

Yeah...let's ignore the fact that you voted in the same idiots as everyone else.
