Why do most liberals support humanitarian causes and environmental issues, and why do most conservatives support systems that crush the poor, endanger certain populations, and turn a blind eye to corrupt business practices and status quo prejudices? The U.S. political parties almost have split personalities to the point that someone is probably going to vote for something against his or her views if s/he votes at all. Are you a poor farmer who wants to support conservative values but stop the big factory from emitting chemicals so close to your land? You're out of luck! Are you a business owner in a large city who wants to support progressive views, but get tax relief for your business and employees? Sorry, Charlie, vote Democrat, and your business will be taxed to death.

Do you agree or disagree? Why do people support parties that support policies that are, ultimately, not in anyone's best interest but their own? Could someone include some studies, newspaper articles, blogs, or even mindless rants?

Mindless rant

Those degenerate politicians! Filthy animals! Scurvy dogs, sleazy weasels, sniveling ca-cas, worthless cow patties, unworthy of the cow that died to make their stinking belts, the running-dog jackals! Send them all to Hawaii on a Greyhound bus. Support capital punishment and demand everyone at the Capitol be punished! Whack their pee-pees! Slap them bald-headed! Rip their lips off and paste them to their eyelids so they can see what they're saying. blah,blah,etc.,blah,%#*#,blah,repeat,etc.

How 'bout dem Broncos!

Okay, inform us. What's the real story? Can you cite a source? I realize I did not, and my information may not be accurate, I admit it. I still think the gist of what I'm saying is true, though. People often compromise when choosing a political party to support. In essence, people do not think about all positions of the party they vote for.

Income tax was created to pay for WW-I

Endless wars are the result.

Revenues are enough that the only thing income tax pays for is the military industrial complex.

Does this go into the "mindless rant" category? If not, I would like to see some sources.

The 16th Amendment was sent to the states for ratification in the Summer of 1909, five years before the outbreak of WW I, nearly 8 years before the US entered the war.

Ratification was complete on February 3rd, 1913 (more than a year before WW I started, more than 4 years before the US entered the war), when Delaware ratified the amendment.

you are making sweeping generalizations, which tend to not be true. for instance you claim that democrats support humanitarian causes, but the reality is that they give lip service to them, and any support they give is through spending other peoples money, not theirs.

you also claim that conservatives support

which is also rubbish. we support things that will allow people to get ahead on their own. that mean lower taxes, and reducing regulations so that it is easier to start up and run a small business.

as for turning a blind eye to corrupt business practices, take a hard look at the democrats for that as well. they seem to be in just as deep if not deeper than conservatives.
