According to the 2014 "International Business Report" by accounting firm Grant Thornton, countries like Russia, Indonesia, Latvia and the Philippines have 40% or more women in senior management, while industrialized countries have about 20%. The U.S. is among the bottom 10 countries in the report with just 22%, along with Spain (22%), the UK (20%), Denmark (14%) and Germany (14%).

The report, which surveyed about 6,600 privately owned companies in 45 countries, found that the proportion of senior roles filled by women across the BRICS countries — Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa — surpasses 30%, exceeding the global average of 24%.

The US also consistently lags behind many other countries re women in political leadership positions.
I wasn't aware that this is news.

The article is not just about the US....

It is particularly interesting when you compare the US with "oppressive" Eastern European countries and Asian countries such as China.

O.K. but what is the point here? Shouldn't it simply be the most qualified to get the position?

Isn't the U.S. and Germany doing better than Russia and Latvia? What is the point supposed to be here? Is there one?

Maybe more women in Russia and Latvia are qualified too?

You HAVE TO find some point in every piece of interesting information?

OK, one point I can make is that western society does not really encourage women to take big responsibilities.
