Bah..go ahead and take it out of the school cafeterias.
Then the parents will just drop it off at the front desk like they do with all other lunches (including large cups of soda).
I'm in the schools and see this first hand.
Parents are dropping off plenty of FF bags/sodas for their kids.
And plenty others are bringing their soda and chips to school with their lunch.
One day I came to school to eat with my daughter and I brought her chicken strips, french fries and a soda from a fast food restaurant! Now I'm wondering if I made anyone's head explode that day. I kind of hope so.
Its not that we're unconcerned, its that we know these changes to school lunches are pointless and could have the opposite effect. Kids are going to go home from school hungry and snack on whatever they have at home. If their parents don't keep healthy food around, these kids are going to come home and stuff their faces with junk food.
So rather than give them better and more filling lunches, they think that just stripping down that one meal will fix childhood obesity, when in turn for many kids it's going to make it worse because no common sense went into developing these new nutrition standards. Its feel good legislation, nothing more.
When the govt is paying for the lunch then why shouldn't we have a say in what My money is spent on?

This woman isn't a nutritionist. She isn't qualified to make recommendations on squat! Those Chick-fil-A sandwiches are probably more nutritious than her low calorie meals, which the kids won't buy.
I hate this stupid woman. She can't keep her nose out of other peoples business, and she thinks she knows what's best for other people's kids.

The taxpayers are paying for the free lunches and for Michelle Obama's new program. It's not healthier food, it's just less food. The portions are small and a lot of kids are left feeling hungry after lunch. If their parents feed them junk at home, the one smaller portioned lunch is not going to change things. This program is pointless and expensive.
Because she is a Marxist/socialist PIG, that's why.
