All the big ones are doing that. There's no more "invention" from within because it costs too much.
I am interested to see what happens with the PC operating systems market. Win-8 is not a big hit, but it is also not challenged by anything else. Are people stuck with it? I bought my first Mac about 4 months ago, but I dont think the OP is up to par because it is not compatible with the stuff out there. As a matter of fact I had to purchase all kinds of MS software so I can do my job. We are too dependent on MS products.

The acquisition of Nokia was a mistake.

18,000 employees, actually and Bill has nothing to do with the company anymore. At least company policy.

This is their TV department going the way of the Dodo bird.

Which is kind of sad, if someone there had enough ability to execute on the tv stuff they could have done very well.

An example-Your newly activated xbox gold account gives you $15.00 in tv show rentals! For $10 you can receive $20/month to rent, for $20 you can receive $40!

Get the people who watch tv to subscribe, while those that only grab something occasionally pay a premium. Probably would have helped build a subscriber basis.

But they just werent able to think about how to go about it. That initial gold activation would have been the way.

No one wants to spend $400-500 on something an Apple TV does for $100. Nor do they want to buy a XBox One that, as a video game console, isn't aimed towards the main audience/consumer...gamers.

This is why this program failed and why 18,000 are getting laid off. Microsoft tried to go all in on a business plan that no one wanted and are now paying the price.

Stuff like this is the norm in the video game industry, sadly. Not on this scale, but the point is the same.
