I expect there is a likelihood that the the Netherlands has no clue about how to identify American passports. They say that they cleared 23 Americans for this flight ...... they clearly must be wrong, since the USA State Department refuses to admit that ANY Americans were on the flight.

After all ...... it would be extremely Classless, Tacky and Insensitive for the American Leader to be yukking it up a big High Dollar Party Fund Raiser when nearly 2 dozen American Citizens were blown out of the sky.
Much better to pretend it just didn't happen ..... and Party on.

The State Department won't release a count or release names until they are confirmed and next of kin have been notified.
I think it was all because of a Video of some sort, but At This Point - What Difference Does it Make!

I'm no Obama fan but what could he have really done different, aside from blowing off the fundraisers? I agree that he could have, and probably should have, but he didn't. I certainly don't want to see any rash military decisions made until we have the facts. It is truly awful that this happened but a snap reaction will not do any good. Personally, I'd like to see an address in the morning that would confirm if there were any Americans on board, and if so how many.

I would expect him to cancel his fund raisers, not say a word initially until he had all the facts and to return to the White House immediately. When you are the President of the United States. it is important what images you make. The rest of the world is watching. Enemies as well as allies. It matters what signals you send out.
