I'm sorry. The misunderstanding wasn't my partisanship at all, it was just my ignorance. I didn't know what "Bush "'41" meant. I always distinguished them by H or W.

Anywho, my bad. I take my hat off to George H Bush in true gratitude and admiration for the cojones he's shown and his service to our nation. I have no problem showing due respect to a man who earned it in the last war we ever fought that was both constitutionally mandated and clearly and convincingly WON.

PS: How many GI's back then do you think went around piling up naked people into pyramids or making them pose for porn pictures?. JESUS CHRIST that's what our enemy used to do and we hated them for it!. How times have changed.

The US "clearly and convincingly" beat Japan by nukes and firebombs. I'd rather be thrown in a pile naked any day.

1) Same war I mentioned.

2) So you're basically saying that totaliarism is like being nuked and democracy is more like a gang-bang?.

They do as soldiers before them have done, which is their duty to enforce policy, not to make it. War is a horrid thing and the people who fight it are often called upon to do horrid things, this is reality.

For their service I am forever grateful and understand quite well this reality which they face. To put ones life up as a stake for what a person believes in is a quality that I wish more people shared. While I may not agree with the policy that has led them there, I will always respect those who put their country and its citizens before themselves.

I pity you if you cannot see this, as one day there may just be a need to save your butt from a fire, and if that day ever comes, good luck on finding a soldier willing to return your gratitude.
Very well said.....

I am grateful that they signed up to defend our country, even if the actions they are forced to take are not at the moment in defense of our country.

The invasion of Afghanistan to root out the taliban was in defense of our country. While Iraq has been a big political move, and Iran looking to be the next one, it doesn't change the motive of our soldiers.

The only thing that makes me cringe is when people say that the soldiers are in Iraq to defend our freedom or our country. While their intent in signing up most likely was to defend this country, their commands have been do do otherwise. I see that as a side effect of an administration pushing patriotism to deter criticism of their politicial actions.

SeanMc - what I'm saying is that you've got a skewed sense of reality if you're more offended by piling a few people into naked pyramids versus killing tens of thousands of 'innocent' people.

And our WW2 enemies didn't throw our troops into naked piles unless they killed them first.

Make no mistake about it: WE ARE KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE.

PS; And BTW, the ones that currently are trying to kill us in Iraq were innocent until we started killing their mothers and children. WE created their rage. You see, THIS is what you must understand. WE ARE KILLING innocent men woman and children and every time we do we create another 10 enemies; the surviving family member and 9 of his buddies and neighbors who witnessed the event. Let me ask you this hypothetical:

An Iraqi tank comes down your street. The turret guy is firing at all the windows as they drive along. Your mom goes to the window to see what's going on and gets her head blown off when the turret guy thinks she's a sniper. Do you have any idea how frequently this occurs in Iraq right now?

How many minutes do you estimate would go by before you're fully locked and loaded and ready to waste yourself some Iraqi tankers?. Or any Iraqi soldier for that matter?.

I don't think ANYONE is on the same planet with you, or in the same galaxy, for that matter. Your viewpoint is so far out there it's unrecognizable.
