This matches my observations to a T. I used to be a lot more involved, and got to meet a lot of candidates. Many of them were well intentioned, but they quickly learn that they have to play the money game and have to horsetrade in order to survive. There are some that are just innately sleazy of course, but IMO that is a minority.

Not all start out worthless. I think some of them truly do think they are going to make a difference (well, not that idiot we have in the Blight House, but some of the Sen./House crowd).

But something happens along the way, and before you know it, they've just gradually devolved into something awful. It's like the porn business, only with politicians.

Because they want free stuff without working for it.

Socialism will always be doomed to failure.

My wife ran for office in our little town.........city council. The guy she was up against went around and stole all the campaign yard signs and then laughed about it. How pathetic they all are. I do nothing but shake my head anymore. I just come here and sheet around most of the time.........but there are other times where reality comes into play. Stupid folks are that.

Seattle is such a nice city - or at least it was until liberals took control.

Seattle has changed radically just in the 22 years I have been here. Friends who grew up here tell me that it changed equally radically in the previous 20 years. In the 70's it was a cross between a sleepy fishing village and a big city. Traffic was good, cost of living was good, and the job market was good.

I got tired of all the petty crime and druggies about 12 years ago and moved to Bellevue, which I have grown to love (hat tip to Kemper Freeman). The difference between Seattle and Bellevue is night and day--here I can go out jogging at all hours without having to be armed to the teeth.

Bellevue politics is slowly changing too though, and it is probably just a matter of time before the liberal virus kicks in here as well.

It was the freest and most crime free city in America in 1967 when I was there.
