Problem is, Hamas is confronting Israel for exactly the reason to provoke a vicious fight with Israel among the Palestinian people. This is where they will get their support.
Without a fight, they are irrelevant. That's why they keep shooting those useless rockets to nowhere and nobody. To provoke a fight.
Israel will kick some major ass and lot's of innocent Palestinians will die and everybody looses in the long run, except Hamas.
How does Hamas get a win out of this? You must be kidding.
I think one state, one vote. Arabs and Jews peacefully co-existing, inter-marrying, having families....I suppose that's a dream.
LOL.
That's most DEFINITELY a dream, and even if it hypothetically did, a radical Islamic and Jewish groups would clash and crush it. Time to think realistically, and not live in a fantasy world. This is the Middle East!
Two state solution, giving self determination to both people. Hamas seems to only want an Islamic State and no other alternative.

If there is peace, then hamas is irrelevant. They appeal to a desire for vengeance but also claim that they are the only lone of defense for Palestine; they have a vested interest in seeing the conflict last as long as possible as it ensures that it will keep them in power.
This said, if 2/3rds of them get killed, no, it won't be a "win" for them, though that's what they will interpret it as.

I believe most Arabs in the world, whether in Egypt or Gaza, want democracy---just like everyone else.
It appears they have had it and will take care of bidness. Screamers can scream but that time is over now.
This is nothing new. You ought to pay attention to recent history. Israel did a ground invasion of Gaza a few years ago. To accomplish the same goals stop rockets from being fired and to stop the flow of weapons.
That invasion was in 2008 or 2009. It was right before Obama was sworn in as President or right after he was sworn in. It was brief. Maybe two weeks to one month and didn't ultimately accomplish the goals of the invasion.
Now in 2014, it is another invasion with the same goals as the last one.
If Hamas (which is a voted government, not a terrorist group) is somehow destroyed, there will be a power vacuum, and a much more radical group will rise to power.
Israel is breaking international law with their latest military offensive, and should end up in criminal court for war crimes.
Hamas is not the voted in government. Hamas was the voted-in majority to the Legislative Council (Senate). In 2007 Hamas did a coup to take over Gaza and killed the members of the Presidential staff in Gaza. So if they are killed off, the true President steps back in who is Abbas of Fatah.
