romney was right about a lot of things. losing does not always mean you were wrong. i have often faced groups of hostile people that were wrong. obama promised change, he has delivered.
i see people at every corner saying "spare change".
and they are young and very aggressive!!!
It was said in 2012, and I think he was correct in a sense....they are one of the five permanent members of the UN security council and usually vote against the US' international interests, but then so does China. I think a lot of people took it to mean that Russia was out #1 enemy, which is of course not true, but that was not the context.
Absolutely right. It was 2012. Thank you! He said "Russia is our number one geopolitical FOE". CNN referred to his comments as a "soviet era gaffe". Really? What say you now CNN?

Russia is a bugbear for many neoconservatives. Some of them have deep personal animus toward Russia stemming from family histories that reach back into "Bessarabia," modern-day Ukraine, and Russia itself.
But when you actually look at their complaints, they presume that the US should be "getting involved" in regions like eastern Ukraine to begin with. When you drop that presumption, their arguments mostly just fall apart.
Russia is adverse to "interests" such as NATO in Eastern Europe. Alright. That fails to ask the question of whether or not NATO should be IN Eastern Europe. Is that an "American" interest, or is it a plaything for certain elites?
No matter how much the baby boomers yearn for a return of the red scare and no matter how much the far-right needs a boogeyman to fight against (USSR, terrorism, drugs, liberals, the French, etc...), Russia is not our enemy.
That doesn't play well with Joe Sixpack, but to thinking people it's spot on.
Governor Mitt Romney said "Russia is our number one geopolitical enemy". I recall candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton (along with other democrats including their supporters in the national news media) laughed it off. So, who had it right in 2008?
Please post the link of President Obama and Hilary laughing it off...
You should think of it more as "enemy of the month". We cycle through different countries we have problems with quite frequently. As horrible as the plane crash is, the White House is using it as a very effective tool to dramatically turn world opinion negative toward Russia. That's one good thing to come out of a tragic situation.
At the time Romney made that comment I don't think Russia was our enemy and nor do I now. The separatists/Russians didn't fire upon an American military aircraft or jetliner. This is mostly a problem with the countries whose nationalities were represented on that aircraft.

Well... CNN did give us Candy Crowley.
