No we are not. What is clear is that we have withdrawn on the world stage as a world leader. Even our allies no longer have faith in us. Putin has seized the moment to step up to the plate and cause Russia to fill the void left by the United States. Even Germany and France will not support sanctions against Russia. We have lost our status as a super power and the leader in world affairs.
The downing of Malaysian Airlines has nothing to do with the United States so I don't see how it could contribute to people's feelings regarding relations between Russia & the United States. Are we headed for a Cold War? No.

If Obama doesn't keep his mouth shut we may be headed into some sort of a conflict with Russia. He continues to insult and degrade Putin along with his Secretary of State on a near daily basis. Because its still world news. I'm sure other parts of the world show stuff about the US on their news if something major happens here. That doesn't mean they want to get involved.

There's no one to challenge him. He knows he can do whatever he wants.
I caught some MSNBC this evening during talks about Putin, they were talking about how Europe is about to put the hammer down on Russia, the concern being that Putin is crouched and in a defensive position and how he would react to the hammer...
