Gaza, is an open air prison and has been since the 6 day war.
Again this is a false statement. Let's look at the history of Gaza. First of all there was a Jewish presence there until 1929 from Biblical times until Arabs ousted the Jews from there. Between 1967-2005 there were 21 Jewish Israeli settlements in Gaza. A physical barrier between Gaza and Israel was only erected in 2004 just before the Israelis completely vacated the area in 2005. But one needs to add that Gaza has a border with Egypt as well and this border is completely controlled by the Egyptians and not the Israelis!
A better question is why was all of this Muslim violence ok with us when we were supporting and financing terrorist groups?
Or why doesn't anyone talk about all of the terrorists that have ended up in Israel's government over the years? For instance, Israel's prime minister during the late 70s and early 80s openly admitted to having taken part in a terrorist attack against the British.

Great, the Israelis may have left but they have completely blockaded the area around Gaza, including the sea (an action similar to that that Israel used to justify starting the 1967 war). Gaza's border with Egypt is probably less than 10% of it's overall border, so that's a red herring.
Yes, and a policy based on false history is somehow seen as brilliant. I think there is room for fair discussion on strategy, but it should be based on accurate information.

No one can leave Gaza.
No imports into Gaza. They cannot bring building materials into Gaza, to repair homes and structures.

You do know that they are situated on the coast, don't ya? Blockade them you say, even the USA would have to put a stop to that on humanitarian reasons. Sooooo, not gonna happen.
