Hell no you don't..
I live in Chicago, you have to be smoking crack to say the south side is prosperous.

No it's not, I used to live there when I lived on campus. It's a decent neighborhood, but far from prosperous and that is one neighborhood in a sea of crime and poverty. If it weren't for the University that place would be just like the surrounding neighborhoods.

Median income; median home sale price:

South side: $40K; $100,205
Hyde Park: $32,724; $119,500
River North: $101,012; $345,500

River North Demographics & Statistics

Just for kicks.

Harlem: $32K; $481,628
Compton: $42,254; $172,115

We have had a version of this thread before. However, to answer your question, the following are predominantly "black cities". Next to them are the average family income rounded to the nearest 1000's.

Unionville, NY - $76,000
Hillcrest, NY - $77,000
Friendly, MD - $83,000
Woodmore, MD - $103,000
Kettering, MD - $107,000
Fort Washington, MD - $114,000
Mitchellville, MD - $118,000
Ladera Heights, CA - $133,000
Baldwin Hills, CA - $157,000

Since the average family income is $51,000 in the US, I would say those are prosperous black cities.

I didn't include the View Park-Windsor Hill area since it is technically part of LA but the average income there is $159,000.

Your entire premise is flawed.

It's a good chance the OP only knows what he sees on TV. It's true there are problems in lower income minority areas but there are many upper income minority areas that do just fine. But at only 13 percent of the US population there aren't that many actual cities that are majority black... It's a numbers thing...

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Compton is 65% Latino. The only other "cities" you listed are Detroit and ESL. Seriously, did you do any research at all before posting?

That's a question for the black community, not everybody else.

FYI, Watts and Compton are predominantly Hispanic.

There are numerous prosperous predominantly black communities in the Los Angeles area: View Park, Windsor Hills, Angeles Vista, Ladera Heights, Baldwin Hills, Blair Hills, (parts of) Altadena
