Maywood and Bellwood in Illinois could also count, both are middle class black towns outside of Chicago. They both have a lower crime rate than Illinois, but both towns are suffering from high unemployment at the moment.

It isn't likely that much research was done. The Blacks that are in Detroit and East St. Louis are the ones who are left behind. Blacks who had the means left a long time ago and continue to leave, and pretty most of the White population in those areas has left too.

And there are predominantly Black areas that I have researched and posted on this thread. They are out there. There are more predominantly Black areas with alot of poverty than not. However, prosperous predominantly Black areas can be found. The thing is, Detroit and East St. Louis are chosen are the worst of the worst.
