You are in the minority.

Millenials generally roll their eyes at Republicans.

I laugh hysterically at them, personally.

So it seems dangerously dismissive to say that social issues don't matter.
I was going to say something very similar. "God (Christian/Bible), Guns (), Gays (). It is ALL the social issues turning them off, especially since the GOP and the Religious Right are now one and the same. Just look at all those polls. Millenials are the least religious demographic. "Spiritual, Non-Religious" I think is the term used. How can you say to them gay marriage is evil and goes against "sacred, holy marriage between one man and one woman" when they don't believe in an organized religion, or book, which says that? It is the complete social package and not only Gay Marriage. You could add women's right to this issue also.

They might agree on the Economic issues, but it will not end with only that. Unintended consequences?

That's not what the data shows. For the most part, people form their opinions when they are young and they keep them throughout the rest of their lives.

Women's rights is a huge problem for Republican's. You can't have candidates talking about "legitimate rape" have hearings on birth control without inviting any women, and actively advocate for not including birth control in health insurance coverage and then say that social issues don't matter. Social issues are huge to millennials because what else is being offered to them? We're talking about a generation that's highly educated but drowning in debt and the entering the job market with worse prospects for social and economic mobility of any previous generation.

Gay marriage is just one issue where social conservatives (not just Republicans) have shown themselves to be completely out of touch with younger voters.

Why not, blacks have obviously forgiven the Democratic Party for opposing freeing slaves and givng rights to blacks.

It is NONE of the government's business, nor either party. The GOP lost their way when they undercut fiscal conservatism by trying to interject social conservatism into it. Hence, they have lost 5 of 6 popular POTUS vootes, and 61+% of the ECs over 24 years.

If you wish to keep electing Dems, keep pushing social conservatism. It is politically DOA.

This tired argument...

Yesterday's democrats are today's Republicans. Strom Thurmond and Rick Perry were previously democrats. Learn your history.

A person can be a registered Republican and not be any of the above, or they may be only one, or all of the above.

GW Bush for example, was only a religious and social conservative. Obama used to be a social conservative and an environmental conservative.
One addition: a religious (a/k/a social) conservative is a loser when running for national office. Every time.

Please don't make this too simple. There are millions of people that might be called "Republicans" who support gay marriage or are at least now not opposed to it. Attitudes on gay marriage have changed significantly in the last ten years and many of those whose opinion has changed are Republicans.

Lets not forget that it was Bill Clinton that signed DOMA into law.
