When a DUI recipient is required to do community service is that giving them a job?
What about when kids get in trouble for graffiti and the judge makes them go scrub the walls?
What about when schools have fund raisers and kids wash cars or stand on street corners asking for donations?
Same same.
But hey if them getting paid to stay home and watch TV sounds better have at it.

I wouldn't go that far but instead limit what they could buy. Perhaps a per pound price limit or for example whole chickens would be acceptable but the expensive fillets would be out of reach.

Let's watch and see what jobs he gives people that isn't already someone else's job. Let's also see how they do at it and how much money will be spent creating and/or supervising these new jobs.

@tinman01

Your kidding right? Its the middle class thats paying the bills, thats why they almost gone. What your proposing is self sufficiency(shovel your own driveway etc) I don't have a problem with that. What i have a problem with is this attitude that someone has to earn welfare or foodstamps etc. How so? Didnt they earn it already by working and paying taxes that went into the welfare programs before they went on welfare? Most or big majority of those recieving foodstamps are working, paying taxes or paid taxes before. This is what i don't grasp is how is this shameful? Unless your thinking poverty is a morale issue other then an economical one?

I survived on it for a while as a kid and I know of a lot of others who did.. There wasn't anything wrong with it.

I really think you guys are barking up the wrong tree. I think you should be more concerned about the welfare industries robbing the taxpayers blind then the guy who is getting $189.00 mth in foodstamps. IMHO

Then you should have no problem with limiting what can be purchased with it.

There is a significant difference between allowing a company to keep their money as opposed to giving someone a handout especially considering those costs will be passed onto the consumer in the end anyway.

The good news the will probably have to hire 1,000 people to supervise the 12,000 people. Thats an exaggeration but it will take time and paperwork to supervise these 12,000 people. A lot of these people live in rural areas so who goes around doing the "make work" jobs and supervising them and how much will that cost? There wont be any savings.

By the way what comes next? How about making medicaid recipient work for their benefits, can we tack on Medicare, and a Tea Party favorite how about anyone that gets an ACA subsidy. Why not make all recipients of Medicaid births work until the bill is paid off?
