South Dallas schools are very predominately Black. Teachers trying to teach these kids are constantly running into the 'acting white' bullying of these kids. If you are an inner city kid trying to get an education, his or her peers are constantly telling the kid that he or she is 'acting white', as if being uneducated is a badge of honor.
The best kids are moving out of that district, into suburban schools where they can get a good education, or going to private Catholic schools.
An extreme example of this move out of public schools is where one New Orleans area district has closed all public schools and is giving all kids vouchers to private schools, as the great blk of,the kids had already left the district.
Why don't we all start acting like americans and put the group stereotypes aside?
Short Sweat and simple. If we all act more Intelligent and use common sense we would be a better place. Since I moved to South Florida I see Islander Blacks be defiant and angry instead of being good law abiding citizens. people. This is the problem.
I know in America we just want to be citizens. If anyone treat people with dignity and respect it is generally returned.

The problem is, those that have gotten a taste of the government powertrip, have to separate us from each other, to stay in power. They do a very good job, with the hired corporate government bought media.
that a good idea, but the black community doesn't want to be a united community they want their individually , I really believe the "proud to be black" of the early sixty has hurt the black community more than it help. yes we not talking uncle tom, but if one group would of went to the center, the opposite would had followed and then we would of been a more common group instead of fighting to be diffident.
I've really only heard whites refer to someone as "acting white" or "speaking white"
Why? Because the people I'm surrounded by have no issue telling me that I "act white" or "speak white" and that "you're not like black people" (since I'm half)
Eh, hillbillies are white but have ridiculous dialects that make then sound uneducated and that's how they're treated, even in the white community. Not sure why it's difficult for some people to understand how or why Ebonics sounds uneducated.
I don't get why it's not commonplace in the Latin and black communities to actually aspire to be something other than a statistic.
These are the two groups that think assimilation=racism
Wow, that was one of the truest sentences I havve read on this forum in years.
It's very condescending for any educated political person to speak ebonics to their audience. Don't understand that at all. That's why when Romney visited the NAACP and spoke in his square regular way, I thought it was real authentic. Unfortunately he was booed but it was great he didn't embarrass himself by trying to speak slang like Hillary and Biden do depending on their audience.
The language that black Americans speak is United States Southern English. Originally the white mans words, dialect and language which derived from Europe and not Africa.
No. You are wrong. Uneducated Blacks have Black Southern English and it is different that Educated Black and White Southern English. Some of that is regional, and based on ancestry that goes back to the 18th Century and gullah words that were only spoken/heard in black communities.
I hear black folks use words and grammar and accents that I NEVER hear in the white community and rarely hear in conversation with educated blacks. Of course, it should be mentioned, uneducated whites in the South use various speech constructions that neither educated white or blacks use, lol.
SO it is not as simple as saying that black Americans speak Southern English.
Stereotypes are usually based on truth. The speech of Blacks in America is a recognized dialect and most remember the push in the '90s to teach Ebonics in school. Blacks that don't speak with this dialect are in the minority.
It's similar to meeting a Southerner that doesn't have a Southern accent. It's usually a surprise because of the abnormality of it.

It's a surprise because the most judgmental tend to be the most sheltered and east cultured. Y'all don't get out very much
I'm sure you're one of those people who thinks "complimenting" your one black acquaintance that they sound so well educated is kind of you
