Instead of addressing the root cause of the issue, over regulation and taxation, Obama wants to "fence in" our border in order to force corporations to remain in the US.

Larry Kudlow had some good commentary on this.

The President's position is just more of his "us vs. them" politics. If he wanted to fix the problem, it would be easy to do by falling in line with the rest of the world in how corporations are taxed. The US government has created the incentive to incorporate overseas, and then acts surprised when they do so.

If it were a matter of tax revenue as opposed to one political class's sense of "justice", it would be easy to get a big slug of revenue at once (as Kudlow pointed out). Offer a one time cash repatriation at a low tax rate - he suggests 5%, remembering that tax has already been paid in the country where the profit was earned.

I don't get it we keep hearing about the burden of high taxes and over regulations on those poor "american corporations". But i tend to recall reading record historical profits after taxes the last few years for these poor american corporations. Profits in the trillions. Thats not enough?

Profits in the "trillions"? Please name 'em so I can go buy their stock and hope they continue to make "trillions" in profits.

Indeed they have made profits under Obama in spite of his poor leadership. The stock market itself is doing very well. The problem is the poor and a large portion of the middle class do not invest in the stock market nor own corporations. The middle class has shrunk under Obama while the gap between the middle class and the top 1% has widened. If a corporation wants to conserve their revenue by moving out of the US because of its tax burden and heavy regulations imposed upon them, that is their right to do so and it makes smart business sense.

The Obama administration must be smoking the good stuff when they talk about "corporate patriotism" in a global economy. Lmao, it seems they would understand the very basic concept of any corporation large or small that their goal is to increase profits and cut expenses. That is 3rd grade economics.

Yes indeed but in the mindset of any card-toting liberal, corporation exist only to support their needs and have no right at all to any profits they earn.

Last I checked, corporations were making record profits in general. But that aside, let's say that the US eases regulations and taxes....you really think companies will do the right thing by the American people and stop outsourcing? As long as they can hire drastically cheaper labor in places like India and China, they will outsource. The sad reality is that the head of these corporations have $ on their mind, not improving the country with jobs.

And the alternative is? raising taxes and more regulations to drive even more corporations out of the country. The U S is between a rock and a hard place because it can not compete in a global economy never could and never will.
