Obama wants us to become a third world country peddling bikes to work . He hates coal, oil, and will make sure we become a lesser nation. He works very hard at it.

Like Obama-phones, people thought they would get power for "free".

High prices cause people to conserve, and conservation is the only way out of our current over-indulgent squandering of our power. The United States doesn't have the vast resources that were here until the last half of the 20th century.

We cannot keep on going as if we have everything in vast supply forever as our great grandfathers and grandfathers did. Much of what our lifestyle became in the 20th century was predicated on the belief that we would never run out of anything, but now we know that isn't true any more.

Will we find technological means to work around our irritating natural resource limits? Possibly. Americans love technology, especially when it creates a lot of something for less money than what something cost before. But until then, a pinch in the pocketbook is the quickest way of cutting down on the squander, and the conservation that comes from it will keep us closer to what we need, even if we don't get what we want all the time.

??? Low income people sometimes face obstacles which make it difficult to conserve. Like living in rented homes that are energy-inefficient. Or sharing housing with other people; do the math and the problem there should be obvious.

MY PV panels are coming Monday due to the credits and support of the current administration. No matter what the right spews like diarrhea, the facts are simple.

2007 We were headed for the worse economic depression in our history
Banks, auto companies, and housing were all on the brink of an implosion.
The R's swore an oath to obstruct the president and block everything.
Some were saying the US would stop producing the automobile, it would be jobs lost to the rest of the world, like the 8 million jobs that had been lost in the first 7 years of this century.

The banks were rescued and they paid back their their loans.
The auto industry was rescued and they paid back their loans
The housing industry was revive
demand for domestic oil dropped 10%
There is healthcare hope for millions
deficit growth has been sizeably reduced.

the right has done NOTHING to help the Americans with jobless benefits ( unlike the 15 extension they passed under Bush), they have done nothing to increase any growth in jobs.

But guess what, we have dropped our level of unemployment drastically, and our stock market has set new records. We have done more with renewable energy than the previous 20 years of our history.

The US produces some of the best solar panels and they pay for themselves quickly.

SO you have some energy companies that are large supporters of ALEC, which passes many laws to curtail renewable energy growth, It is these same companies that contribute to politicians in many forms and largely support the efforts of the Right... yet you blame Obama for the rise in energy costs.

SO do you actually think it is Obama that causes the power companies to raise prices or the greedy executives? get a life, and use your brain.

Greedy executives..that is funny.

Executives are not able to demand any price they choose. Use your brain.

Try saying that wihtout the federal tax credit, state tax credit(if applicable), the green credit(if applicable) and the long list of subsidies before they even get to your front door.

I can tell you many things that make them rise such as renewable energy mandates the power distributor needs to meet. They'll do that by either buying the power directly such as that wind farm in Massachusetts that got 15 year contract that started at 18 cents a kWh with a 2.5% increase each year. That's wholesale, not retail. They might also buy credits generated by systems like yours. Those costs are passed onto the regular ratepayers.

Nah. I just turn off something else before I turn my computer on. No big deal.
That's the thing about electrical conservation. It's not a big deal at all. Just turn things off when they're not being used.
A little her, a little there. It all adds up.

If your kid was on life support would you want it powered by a solar panel?
