Clinton on Sept. 10, 2001: I could have killed bin Laden but 'I didn't' | Fox News

I think there were two times he had a chance to get him, but made the decision not to. I think this builds the case for using drones and taking out any terrorist we can. We wont ever know what can happen if we don't, but I think we can always rest assured that there is a good possibility we are saving many lives by taking these guys out when we can.

I dont fault Bill here. These are the tough decisions that have to be made by POTUS. Though I do question the story of OBL being in a town and not in a camp or something away from civilians.

Just so strange that just the day before, he is sitting here talking about one of the times he had a chance to get this guy. I can only imagine how he personally felt the next day. He may not ever acknowledge it, but I know I would feel horrible for the missed opportunity.

Clinton's chance unfortunately would have meant massive casualties, and pre 9/11, it would have cost us tremendous worldwide credibility in terms of relationsships with other nations.

O"Neill and those taking OBL as of dire importance (like Clarke) were not taken seriously by either Clinton or Bush IMO, to the degree they should have been.

I do agree 9/11 would have happened w/o OBL too, though.

That is alright, the next Democrat in the Oval Office managed to get it done, the Con between the two did not believe it was important if we ever got him.

Bin Laden was on the run and in hiding. He could do no further damage. Anyone who tried to contact him was a target. Barack did not get anyone. The orders were cut while Barack was still in the Illinois Senate.

I guess the "Kennedy Space Center" should be renamed the "Nixon Space Center".

Strange, Bush was out of office for years and Bush had left Afghanistan on the back burner to go fight his personal war in Iraq, yeah sure it was Bush that got him.
