Having watched W.H.0. for a few decades I have learned to trust them even when I disagree. In this case they were confronting Ebola as fast as they could but with few teams which did not understand transmission and cultures of suspicion and voodoo, the system near collapsed and the virus migrated to the cities of the affected countries. That said, their publications of "safe flying" was poorly sighted and conceived without prior strict controls...in their defense Ebola is not transmissible by casual contact as was SARS, H1N1 or various flu virus.

Honestly the next three weeks will be telling. I am in favor of screening passengers on both sides of a flight with stringent protocols. I am also in favor of suspending flights from the offending countries for a period of time. Yes, restricting travel is harsh but dying from a contagious disease is far worse imho.

Keep your eyes on the Spanish nurse and the relatives of Mr. Duncan. Be wise in your planned travels and contacts and perhaps delay welcome homes from persons who have been in Western Africa. We should work daily to keep our cool and guard against fear and panic.

They probably have a case based on the fact that Duncan went to the hospital 2 days earlier and was sent home.

Wow. They question why a non-citizen who was treated FREE should have been moved yet again at taxpayer expense somewhere else.

AMERICANS absolutely should get preferential treatment over non-citizens, period.

What a sense of entitlement. But then with JJ's ugly mug next to the family member, one can hardly expect anything else.

Stupid ambulance-chaser.

Big lawsuit coming up, I'm sure. Since Louise Troh was not legally married to Duncan and had not seen him in 20 years, it is hard to see how she could have any legal claim to damages. His son might, but that is assuming paternity can be proven.

If any of the family that was in the apartment gets ill, it would seem logical that the city of Dallas could be sued for quarantining them in an apartment still filled with soiled sheets, towels, etc. for days before removing them.

The flock of vulture lawyers circling this family must be plentiful.

This needs to be repeated. Not only did that delay any kind of treatment, but it also put many more people at risk.

Utterly disgusted by that story.

But then again, maybe you are right.
I can see those countries slipping into civil war again.
Add to the fact Sierra Leone is a predominate Muslim country= opportunity for Isis and Bio weapons of mass destruction.

I have not heard President Johnson of Liberia say a damn thing about Ebola.
The Liberians need to kick her out.
How many times have we heard Bush dropped the ball after Katrina, when what he did was give the LA governor time to decide whether she wanted natl guard help? That was his biggest regret, allowing her all that time instead of stepping in with a federal response. Louisiana didn't have the resources or planning at the time to handle it on their own, and neither do these sovereign nations in West Africa.

We and the entire international community needed to help them from the beginning. All the world leaders dithered and now it's probably too late to do much. Obama could have shown he was a real leader and coordinated some early response, but he is too worried about political ramifications of how that would look at home. Or, and this is a real possibility, he was completely unaware of how bad it was there or how dangerous this thing could get once it got to this point. There are enough people here who seem to think this is just like all other Ebola outbreaks and can be contained, when obviously it hasn't been contained. The first border crossing should have been an eye-opener to the international community.
