The first amendment protects freedom of speech even when you don't like the message.

I am no fan of JJ. He has a way of being invited into situations and making it all about JJ. Yet it seems to me that some media is a tad more focused on communicating what they infer rather than what was actually said.

There are some incredible sensational headlines out there, yet nothing factual within the story actually supports the headline.

Again, I don't care for JJ.

He was the one who brought Ebola to The Us. How dare they sue. Makes me mad.

There's definitely an economic impact here.
Look at the costs to "isolate".

Imagine the cost to Frisco regarding the deputy ?
The loss to the clinic (they are still closed).

But it's a domestic cost.

In Texas, only punitive damages are capped. That means you still get pain and suffering, current and future lost wages and current and future medical expenses.

Are there any states that limit anything other than punitive damages?

I actually don't want too much of a cap on punitive damages; however, I believe punitive damages should go into a fund to help the community and the lawyer doesn't get any commission at all off of the punitive damages.

Regardless of race, it would be an extremely rare family that would pass up an opportunity to sue. This is the US, after all. Even if a family chose not to sue , the hospital's and MD's insurers would likely offer a settlement in exchange for an agreement not to sue at a future date.

He was a foreign tourist that walked off his job in early September.

Those expenses are probably going to come to near $1 million dollars.

No one knew the 7 month pregnant girl who collapsed had Ebola. I think somewhere along the way, it was believed she might have Malaria. The cause of death was not determined before Duncan departed and arrived in the US.
