Restraining orders are only paper and the cops are only 10 or 20 minutes away when seconds count.......

And of course the domestic abuser is the man. It's funny how the vast majority of child abuse is actually committed by women, and yet the sole narrative pumped out by liberals is that only men are violent. And the founder of the first women's shelter in America said she was shocked when she found the level of abuse committed by women. She attempted to open a men's shelter but was denied funding. I wonder how many children have suffered because the political rhetoric of the liberals has made people dismiss signs of a female abuser with "she's a woman/mother, she wouldn't do that".

The irony that this is being portrayed as an example of what happens when you don't have tough gun laws is rich indeed.

I want to see a REAL add showing an example of one of the majority gun murders, instead of something representing a tiny % of gun violence. It won't be so sympathetic.

>>>Scene opens on 3 gang members ordering a hit on a rival drug dealer for murdering two of their guys outside a pizza joint<<<<

THAT is how over half the people get gunned down in my home state of Illinois.

This ad certainly makes the case for why women should get trained and have access to a firearm for protection. If you watch the ad, it does a great job at hitting all the points that gun proponents like to make. The restraining order that the woman had obviously didn't stop her crazed ex from coming to the house. The woman was on the phone with police, who were minutes away when seconds counted.

The false premise of the ad is that if we were able to pass stricter gun laws, this situation wouldn't have happened. Ok, let's pretend for a moment that this guy didn't have a gun..... The restraining order still would have failed to keep him away. He still could have kicked in the door, stabbed or beat the woman to death and then took the child, and the police still wouldn't have gotten there in time. So, what is the ONE thing that could have changed the odds? A gun, in the hands of that woman, that's what.

In fact, the NRA could play this ad without changing a thing and it would have the desired effect.
