Seth Jackson and his partner Payton have 6 children, 2 adopted and 4 foster kids. On a Thursday afternoon at 4:00, Seth and Payton were busy smoking pot and watching multiple episodes of Game of Thrones while their 10 month old foster baby cooked to death in the car.

Quote:
A Kansas man ate pizza, smoked marijuana and watched almost two episodes of 'Game of Thrones' with his partner before remembering his 10-month-old foster daughter was still inside a sweltering car, authorities said.
She was in the car for 2 1/2 hours before they remembered her. It was 90 degrees outside. I don't understand why the partner hasn't also been charged with endangering a child. They had 6 kids in that house, 4 of which were 5 and under. What were the kids doing while the dads smoked pot and watched R rated TV?

(I know some people won't like the Daily Mail, but their reporting is confirmed by tons of other local and national sources. I choose this article because it has a precious picture of the sweet baby who was killed by these two idiots.)

The baby was born with drugs in her system. The state placed her in an unfit home.

A nightmare scenario. So sad.

.................and the point of this thread is what? Game of Thrones causes child abuse? Pizza makes people forget? Our child welfare system is a joke?

I don't see any issue here aside from someone scrutinizing how Kansas places kids.

Pizza, pot, gay folks, Game of Thrones, Kansas is like super flat...that has no bearing on how I read the story.

That's awful. I'm sure they didn't mean to do this, but if you are the guardians of 6 kids (or any kids) than there needs to be at least one responsible, sober parent at all times. You gotta give up some of the habits you had when you were single and childless.

Or, if you're going to partake then make sure all of your priorities are taken care of and your kids are all accounted for before doing so. Furthermore, as a father (one who admittedly partakes in the ol' sticky icky from time to time) how does one not realize they've left their kid in the car?

Agree. Many more straight non-marijuana smoking parents have left their kids in the car and forgotten them than gay pot-smoking parents.

How in the hell did these guys get approved for 6 children? Both getting high in the middle of the afternoon while they have 6 kids in the house. Where were the other kids while they were high? How do you get one kid out if the backseat and forget the other one if you are sober? One story said the guys were smoking in the morning and ran out, so Seth went by the drug dealer's while he was getting pizza and picking up the baby from the baby sitter. I don't understand why the state of Kansas would give these idiots so many foster kids.

I believe most state agencies for supervising foster care are understaffed and underfunded. They cannot supervise or place children responsibly if there are not enough people paid to do it. Most states cannot raise taxes to cover this, so they make do with what they have--it's probably a burnout job due to being overloaded with cases. Even when the states contract it all out to private organizations, it does not seem to work as the states are still underfunded. With people anti-taxes these days, I would expect the system to get worse and have more deaths.

How is this political or otherwise controversial?

Unless the OP has an ulterior agenda, that is.
