Conservatives and Libertarians are not "promoting" excessive use of sugar, they are simply saying that we should each have the freedom to make our own choices when it comes to diet, period.... If someone wants to eat and drink themselves in to a wale? Fine, that's on them.... It's their choice, not yours.
Say this aloud and repeat as necessary....
"it is not my job to save other people from themselves" ..... Mind your OWN business, live how you want, make decisions that are beneficial to you, and let everyone else do the same!!! Quit trying to control other peoples behaviour by passing laws that aim to socially engineer society in to a neat little box that you and your ilk find acceptable.
That's the price you pay for living in a free society, get over it.
Those choices should include who to marry, what to smoke, whether to treat sex as a commodity, and whether we want to get an abortion or not. Right?
Rosa DeLauro (D, Connecticut) wants a 1 cent per teaspoon national tax on sugar (or HFCS). She says that a 20 oz. bottle of soda contains 16 teaspoons of sugar, whereas the American Heart Association recommends that people consume no more than 6-9 teaspoons per day.
Video at link. Watch DeLauro as she "When a two liter cola is 99 cents and blueberries are over 3 dollars, something has gone very wrong."
I get a 2-liter Kroger cola for 79 cents; at Safeway cola 2-liters are 89 cents.
You should not be drinking that shyte. The new V8 fusion 100% juice is great. 1.36 liters is $2.50 on sale, but you are what you eat. 8 oz. serving contains a full serving of both veggies and fruit. How much is your health worth? I only drink V8 and Ocean Spray 100% juice, along with plain water, and closing in on 60 yrs old can still run a 3 hour marathon (26.2 miles).
Perhaps she should start by not allowing EBT to be used for soda and other junk food. Women on SNAP have higher obesity rates than other women. The link for men is not as clear.
Since the government, by way of the taxpayers, is paying for the food, and in many cases the healthcare of these people, that seems like a reasonable place to start.
Those choices should include who to marry, what to smoke, whether to treat sex as a commodity, and whether we want to get an abortion or not. Right?
Exactly right.....

{ bet you weren't expecting that, were you? }
