Bringing back the draft, why not?

People don't care about other people's sons daughters brothers sisters been sent to foreign countries to die. They will say "oh well. we compensated them with pay checks. They are waste of tax payers money" I bet most of these people who always bringing up tax payers money don't even pay tax.

With a draft, at least everybody will ask "Is this war really necessary?" because it could be YOUR child going to war.

They want an equal opportunity, equal right military, they want a political correct military. Yeah, bring back the draft.

I'd rather our miltary be used for what it was meant to do, and that is to protect our country in defense of OUR borders, instead of trying to police the world, and for imperialistic purposes. Certain founders of this nation warned about getting in entangling alliances with other nations! Furthermore, I don't subscribe to the chickenhawk's "we gotta fight 'em over there, so we don't have to fight 'em here" BS!!!

That is why many of us re-enlist to gain a skill that serves them when they get out, that is after putting our arse on the line so others do not have to. You're Welcome

Yes. The military does pay towards college and also pays an enlistment bonus for going into certain fields in which there exists a shortage. My son got a $2000.00 bonus for signing up for a school on power generator repair. He also got college assistance.
It takes more than just having the college credits to even sit for the exam and if I remember correctly, a certain number of classes have to be in a classroom, then you have to have a CPA firm sign off on your license. All of this is beyond my point though, military accounting isn't useful for private practice accounting. It's a completely different ballpark. Now if you want to audit government financials then maybe you have an argument, but that is a ridiculously small sector in the accounting world and you would still be better off going the private route to get there.

Exactly my point. The military would serve as a fantastic tool for training our young people. It has some of the best training schools in the country. Before you hammer me, I carried a rifle and came home with one arm and part of a shoulder missing so your arse wasn't the only arse on the line.

Well, I'm really not into accounting myself and it really doesn't address the bigger picture of job training for the masses of young folks who will never get it on their own anyways.

Cut out all of the freebies that incent those who come here with no intention of becoming citizens. Furthermore, end the silly failure that is the war on drugs which has cause more harm to people here, and Latin America than the drugs themselves. Unfortunately, no politician from either side of the aisle has the stones to do it, and as for the drug war our government and certain special interests make too much money playing both sides of the coin.

Actually I'm not. It was not meant to be offensive to you. I was simply repeating what I have heard from some liberals on these forums to describe our Iraq and Afghanistan war vets. Liberals have called them paid mercenaries and paid killers. I am a Viet Nam vet and I certainly do not subscribe to that mentality.

No! It never works that way.
