That's very kind of him. Of course, now the employees currently making $10 an hour will want a raise to $13. And those currently making $13 will want $16. And so on.

So your theory is no one should ever get a raise? Yourself included, of course.

Or are you different? When you get a raise you say "Yessuh!" and are satisfied?

That's the kind of liberal (assuming he is one) that I can respect.

If all the Congress people advocating for high minimum wages and more taxes would voluntarily give up their own money (pay a 50% tax rate voluntarily above $250K for example), I would be more open to considering their point of view. But when they rush to increase their riches and whine about "the rich," I see them as nothing but hypocrites.

Just for clarification- it's not UK, it's Kentucky State.

That's not what I'm saying.

Put yourself in the shoes of the guy currently making $9-$10 an hour. Maybe he's a lead or supervisor. Maybe he just has more seniority than the guys making minimum wage. Or maybe he was being rewarded for working harder.

Now, all of a sudden, the guys that were getting minimum wage are making the same or more than he. Why is his work no longer worth more to the employer than theirs when it had been previously?

I wasn't making a blanket statement against wage increases. To the contrary, I think hard work and increased productivity should be rewarded. But when you raise the wages of those at the bottom, you've got to raise the wages of those higher up the ladder in a similar manner.
