This is not a police state. The idea that our local police have become paramilitary forces is appalling. From a legislation stand point-- What can and should be done?

I think this is something most conservatives and liberals can agree on.
No,liberals will never agree.

The reason for the militarization of the police and government agencies, is the belief that government must be powerful and force its will on everyone.

Liberals believe in that wholeheartedly.

Until that is reversed, the militarization will continue and grow.

Anyone who defends the militarization of the LEO's doesn't understand why the founding fathers made it impossible for the military to have power in civil issues. So Bush and Obama both went around the limitations, and are militarizing local and state law enforcement, and agencies (such as the EPA, FDA, and NOAH) that were never meant to be armed enforcers.

This is a promise Obama has kept, to the detriment of our rights.

NO, totalitarians, communists, and socialists (to some extent) won't agree. They are the ones who want to give all power to a nanny who will watch over them, and tell them what to do, and take away the need to think for themselves. They expect some kind of Utopia, and get exactly this kind of violent authoritarian rule.

Progressives - maybe

Liberals moderate liberals HATE the police state.

Anyone who believes that militarizing the local and state police are ignorant cretins.

Don;t make this a right left thing, this is an "anyone with a brain" thing.

Then you don't believe in freedom.

Liberals today believe in an extremely powerful centralized government that accumulates mass wealth, power, decisions, and control over the citizens.

In reality they are gearing up for the possibility that the "normal citizen" may take to the streets when they realize just how much they've been screwed with a 2x4. It;s a neat little scam the political class and elitists are running. Now they fear, just like Ponzi himself, that we are figuring it out.

Well, they worked hard to make LEO's immune to such things as emotion, instead making killing machines who actually do shoot first and then let God sort it out. Welcome to the age of first shooter reality games. Video gamers turned cop with real bullets.

I agree. The ones arming and militarizing are police belong to no party really and have no allegiance to either side.
They love partisan fights though because it allows them to continue their raping of this country.

Divide and Conquer is the oldest trick in the book - Look over there!

They also got tasers and made an entertaining video knocking each other out with them.

One of our biggest crimes is teenagers spinning donuts on the beach. The cops love to chase these kids at high speed through town with sirens blasting. I've never seen them bring out the Humvee.
Yeah, I live in a county where the largest town is 10,000 and they got a armored assualt vehicle. Totally unecessary and it's never been used. A man unsuccessfully ran for Sheriff and the armored vehicle plus a rarely used helicopter were one of his main campaign promises that he was going to sell them and use the funds elsewhere if elected. The worst crime around here is the occasional meth lab bust or rednecks robbing a bank with a junk vehicle that'll break down a couple miles away.
