At least you recognize that. Most people think there is a difference, but fundamentally the policies are basically the same.

If you're asking who's to blame for Chinese products being cheap (as in crap), I'd say the Chinese are too blame for putting out a poor product.

Just change progressive to the rich elite and everything makes sense.
The people in power and wealth did not get rich from playing fair or nice but by playing people and taking advantage of them every step of the way. They are parasites on society and will be the death of this country.

When it comes to their big Money Backers via Big Corporations and Banks, nope, no difference.
Each side will throw in social issues to fight over to keep the gullible distracted.

Well, accept for the fact that it is American Corporations in China that are designing and making the parts, or they send off an order to a Chinese Corporation to make x amount of widgets for them.

The Chinese are not known for Innovation so I am guessing they build parts based on the design criteria given to them by their American counterparts?

Irregardless, I live in a Big City and in the 70's, the Chinese Products available to me in this town was limited to a 7/11 sized store near other specialty shops. That all changed with Corporate Lobbyists and Politicians.

Yes, let's not forget who is invested in these "Chinese" and "Japanese" corps.
progressives: should the USA borrow tens of trillions more for society?

Very tiny excerpt samples from the one CAFR. There is a multitude of investment funds.

So who owns the corporations that are taking on American debt securities in these two countries?

Barack Obama is a bald-faced liar and liberals are the scum of the Earth for falling for his lies hook, line, and sinker.

Yes, we told you so, but you wouldn't listen. He's (half) black and millions of guilty white liberals needed repentance. There was absolutely nothing that could penetrate that, and therefore the nation is f****d because of it.

Be sure to pat the closest liberal idiot on the back for a job well done.

Would you prefer to have more companies outside the US was making the profit on Chinese products being sold in the US?

If you can't accept the fact that we live in a global economy, I just don't know what to say to you so you'll accept reality. The reality is people, by in large, purchase the cheaper option when buying on most items and in particular bulk consumables.

Sure, US companies could stick to their guns and try to keep such manufacturing in the US, but when the customer goes into the store and sees the two products, they are going to purchase the cheaper product designed in Russia and built in China. Soon the US company will be out of business and the profits, along with the white collar jobs and tax revenue, will go to Russia instead.

The genie is out of the bottle. There is an endless supply of dirt cheap labor in the world today. Once the cost of manufacturing in China grows to X amount, it will be exported to another country, possibly one in Africa. The best goal for the US is to be the ones who come up with the ideas, design them and send them to be manufactured where it's cheap and exported for consumption in the US and other countries. Do you really believe that other countries won't do the same?

I agree with your sentiment, but it would have been the same with Romney as well that the Mainstream Media was pushing. Hell, his top donors were almost identical. The mainstream media said voting for someone like Ron Paul was crazy since a lot of wealthy interests would have been at stake.

I found the first sentence from the OP's quote to be a little bizarre:

It seems to imply that Obama's own action was a "setback to the president's efforts." Strange wording, IMO.
