The corporate cheerleaders love to spout about individuals standing on their own two feet while their corporate lobbyists band together and take over our government.

I don't think that there is a solution to this problem until some scribbler comes up with an alternative to democracy. All democracies wind up being run for the benefit of the people at the top. This applies to DC, to unions (all members have a vote) and publicly held corporations (stockholders have a vote).

Until a solution is found, the best we can hope for is to dial back excesses. Such as subsidizing the world's 6th richest man while hanging the mentally ill out to dry. We can do this by voting for and supporting conservative Republicans.

I hope you are joking wutitiz.
You mean Republicans like Romney where his largest donors were identical to Obama?

How are they different?

In fact their donors were not identical.

The 2012 Money Race: Compare the Candidates - NYTimes.com

The democratic candidate will always be the preference of rent-seekers such as public sector unions, trial lawyers, etc. The Republican candidate indubitably serves corporate interests (oftentimes rent seekers as well) but also has to answer to the tea party and quasi-libertarians like me. The GOP is the lesser of two evils.

LOL. Well first I think it very important people think for themselves. There is no one size fits all. Consciousness and awareness, however, are critical. So is understanding what is going on. Transparency and individual accountability seem to be critical components that are lacking from our current system. The problems seem to have been brewing in the dark.

Studying a topic seems very important. So is looking at the system model. If one wants a different outcome seems different thoughts, actions and systems are needed. Then looking at alternatives and or creating them. Self-reflection is also a very important part of changing the world one sees. At the heart of our economy is value. One must ask, what is value? Where is the economic value truly derived?

Look at the internet, for example. It is an example of an open system that has transformed communication in amazing ways. Equitable, open and compassionate systems seem the way of the future to me. Sustainability comes from a balance.

This story was worth watching for more than just special effects. Great lines.

Well, we will then have to disagree then based on what you said.
I want power back into the small towns, cities and local governments and small business.

I want economic and political power in the hands of citizens, not concentrated on Government Wall Street for the Corporate Conglomerates.

You can call it whatever you want, (unions) but we need citizens and workers uniting like the corporate lobbyists have.

Union Power is at an all time low when it comes to having a say in our Federal Government.

It does not even need to be unions as traditionally understood, but citizens and workers banding together and taking back control for the ones running this country.

The rent seekers at the top of the list would be ones on Wall Street that were the top donors to both Obama and Romney. Wall Street needs to go to Hell.

Government is an extension of the society we allow. We worship money, so why would the government not be bought?

You have a lot to learn. Here is a quote: George Washington said, “Government is like fire, a dangerous servant and a fearful master.” The Founders understood that the biggest obstacle to freedom was the tendency of all governments to grow, absorbing power unto themselves.

As the OP's source says,

"But many lobbyists felt they were being unfairly tarred by Obama’s campaign to keep them out of public service. A lawsuit challenging the ban was initially dismissed, but a District of Columbia Circuit Court in January reinstated it."

-Meaning of the above: Obama was so hard on lobbyists they sued him.

"The White House Office of Management and Budget said the administration was revising its earlier guidance on lobbyists serving on federal advisory panels to clarify that lobbyists may now serve on such panels when they are representing the views of a particular group."

-Meaning of above: Obama had taken away lobbyists rights as if they were convicted felons from a foreign country. Obama tried to knock the lobbyists so hard that they would not even be able to talk in Washington (but the lobbyists sued him.)

Obama tried to knock the living hell out of lobbyists.

Umm maybe you missed the video I posted on page 1 of the President appointing Tom Wheeler chairman of the FCC?
Tom Wheeler
quote:
He was appointed by President Obama and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in November 2013. Prior to working at the FCC, Wheeler worked as a venture capitalist and lobbyist for the cable and wireless industry, with positions including President of the National Cable Television Association (NCTA) and CEO of the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA).
