Are these "real questions" on the exam? If so then the one about the 13 original states is rigged. The first and last answers have 14 states listed. Plus like another poster said you can get most of the answers from other questions. If it is this easy to pass this test then why aren't the illegals lined up to get it done?
What are the 13 original states?
Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, New Zealand, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Rhode Island, Maryland
Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Rhode Island, Maryland
Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Rhode Island, Maryland

By posting this are people trying to say that the test shouldn't be given or made easier? Maybe we should print it up in every conceivable language OR better yet make the questions about THEIR country rather then the one they are trying to become a citizen of.
Democracy doesn't work for every population. A population has to have a certain level of intelligence and involvement in the governmental process. If you can't STUDY for a test like this and pass it, maybe you can't be a positive force in a country like the US.
I got them all right, but I admit I guessed on the INS question.
I didn't guess on that one; I used to belong to a family immigration forum. I know the name of every form I had to fill in along with most of the others.

They can't; they don't qualify to apply for citizenship. You have to be here legally, unless the US has some kind of weird amnesty.
Yes -- and as unbelievable as it may sound -- there are all kinds of pamphlets, tutors and other aids to help them pass this test. Memorization works. There is far too little requirement on English language ability and we're really paying the price for that.

It really isn't that easy. Many of the questions with the exception of the State questions do not have answers within the test. And even if you have only two to pick from as in the above since we all know Washington DC is not a state nor is New Zealand, you still have to have some information.
BTW the one I got wrong was about which amendment doesn't include voting. I honestly didn't have a clue. The INS form was easy for me since I am a naturalized citizen who thankfully didn't have to take a test to become a citizen.......I couldn't really read when I was Naturalized.

I think most countries require some kind of civics test for citizenship, except maybe for refugees.
I have to admit I guessed on some of the questions. Especially the "amendment" ones...
