I don't know the details, but on the surface, this just looks like more of a personal vendetta between that DA and Perry. I really doubt that it goes anywhere.
I will note that Governor Perry and the Republican party have long wanted to get rid of the Public Integrity Unit (it was responsible for Tom Delay's problems). If Ms Lehmberg had resigned, then Governor Perry would have been able to appoint his own person to the role she held (until the next election for District Attorney for Travis County).
The above link has some articles dated from 2013 (from the Austin newspaper) about the Unit and how the Governor (and other Republicans) have wanted to dismantle the unit for 10 years (or, about when Mr. Perry became governor).
This article is from my home paper from 2013, when Governor Perry carried out his line-item veto:
Politically motivated? You bet, on all sides. As noted, Texas is a firm Republican state, although Travis County goes Democrat (hence the reason the district attorney for that county is a Democrat, and as district attorney leads the unit.

Reminds me of all the ethic charges against Palin that were dismissed.

Ditto for the GOP grandstanding with a lawsuit against the POTUS.
Agreed. When I saw his leadership and public requests for Obama to act during the border crisis, I wondered if this Administration uncharacteristically would let that pass. They did not. I expected him to have at least an IRS audit. That may still come since we all know what the IRS does to public figures who do not agree with Obama. I expect Scott Walker to suddenly have some kind of a problem too in the coming months.
My brother lives in San Antonio. I'm going to be visiting him next month. Great city.
