Is there evidence that he was still wearing his flip flops? The picture I saw of the body only showed his yellow socks. Just like with the hat he was wearing, couldn't he have lost those in a tussle with the police officer?
Barefoot or socks would still not be max speed. 35' in 3 requires max speed, sneakers, track shoes, etc.
There were 2 items I noticed over the course of these protests.
-People finally waking up about the militarization of our police
-Young Blacks boo'd both Jessie and Al for showing up, pontificating and then asking them for money.
Some good just might come out of this.
I agree with that.
The best thing to do is pick your battles. Ones where there is good evidence about what happened and content of character is less questioned. I really thought when the football player who wrecked his car and went to a house and knocked on a door and was later shot by police would have sparked a Ferguson like event.
I still reserve opinion until the evidence is all in. But even then we may never know the truth.

I run barefoot all the time, I used to run 5 minute miles barefoot. Its not really unthinkable, especially with socks on. I think you're overrating the impact of shoes here.
Not sure where this "max speed" concept came from but a 300 pound guy running at me full speed barefoot doesn't really scare me any less than a 300 pound guy running at me fullspeed in Nike's.

Think about this: You are suggesting that an officer turn his back on a charging perpetrator to run away and, hopefully, get into his vehicle. You want to try doing that?
So your logic is that one is allowed to charge at an officer if wearing certain footwear?
No, the logic (and eye witness accounts) is that he did not charge the officer. He dropped in place with no forward movement. Hitting the pavement while full tilt head down charging would show as scrapes in the autopsy.
What should the officer have done, flee? Is that a good way to enforce the law in our country, mandate that officers flee from perpetrators? What accountability should a 300lb, 6'4" man, who just robbed a store, have in this?
Brown had no business charging at an officer.....period!
We agree jojajn.
