If the officer had used non-lethal force, it's quite possible the officer would be DEAD. In which case he would be just one more cop killed by a criminal-hardly worthy of mention these days.

Is he even privy to the information in the investigation. It astounds me he would say something like that especially considering all the inconsistencies and outright impossible things being said by these witness's. He's on some thin ice with statements like that.
If he's innocent and there's not evidence to support the charges, he shouldn't have to go to court in the first place.
This. If there's no evidence to support proceeding to trial, then there shouldn't be a trial. Putting one on just for show would be a waste of money and time.

100% agree. His statement is just a sad sidebar in this ugly saga that highlights the utter disgustingness of our elected officials. Makes me want to puke.
