If we're talking about what I think we're talking about, then there wasn't a geriatric involved or a diminutive woman.

I don't think anyone has enough information to make an informed decision about what happened except for the people directly involved.

Police are people; there are good cops and then there are cops with the macho bug that can't wait for an opportunity to draw their weapon, choke someone out or administer capseicin sadistically. I have no idea which category Darren Wilson falls in.

Michael Brown was a person. I have no idea if he was a gentle giant or a 6'4" 290 lb. problem who was ultimately responsible for the way that the events that afternoon unfolded.

Maybe time will tell. I'm not buying anything at this point. You probably shouldn't either.

Actually, you don't know that for a fact. It may be true in some cases; it may not be true in others.

People do plenty of things that make no sense whatsoever.

There's this meme among the libertarian/tea party right that the US is in huge decline, society is going to collapse any day now, etc.

Of course, many of the hostile posters on this site always believe police no matter what they do so I'm not even talking to you.

Think about it: Why would anyone, even a hoodlum, reach for and try to take a gun from a cop. Just think about it. Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Police departments always have the same stupid excuses because they know that enough of a majority of White America will believe any lie they concoct to justify beating or killing a black person.

The other most frequent concoction: The so-called "scuffle" with the police. Iv'e even heard them spin this lie when they have manhandled geriatrics. note: the scuffle word is usually the media account of what happened based on the lies from the police

Then there is the argument that their defenders are always using to scold victims of the police: That the victim shouldn't be mouthing off to the police. Why do they say this all the time? Did they hear audio of mouthing off? And if someone does mouth off to the police, is that in and of itself unlawful? NO! If your typical customer service peon is expected to withstand a rude mouthy customer, why would a cop go off and lose it just because someone is being mouthy?

Stock lies the police tell:
Resisting Arrest (think one scrawny young man surrounded by the usual swarm of flies with badges)
Reached for the officer's gun ( think super human - faster than speed of light - with a sprinkle of crazy)
Society must rely upon its law enforcement to uphold the peace and the rule of law. The alternative to this is to abolish the law and return to the days when men armed themselves and the law fell as to which man could get to his gun the faster and shoot the straighter.

You've just articulated conservatives' vision of utopia. This is exactly what they want.

It is in an economic decline and as you can see when violence breaks out the first thing they do is loot stores.

Just because you can't see yourself doing it doesn't mean no one else would do it. There are plenty of people who would, and have. Maybe you just hate cops for reasons of your own.

That 'dream' is a reality in Detroit, Newark, Chicago etc compliments of legacy democratic control. the gangster mentality has replaced the law in many communities. Problem is when you have part of the population restrained by law and the rest unpredictable in their behavior because they have not purchased a subscription to laws. So iti sokay to waste someone because you perceive they dissed you or called you a name.
