I will note that there is a difference between raising a flag and creating an actual naval base. There is a reason that the island is not friendly to people or ships.

Because Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky having been 500 or so miles from the Aleutians for the last 50 years is imaginary?

The Russians have had a major naval base within a single day's sail from the US since WW II. And?

We may or may not agree on a definition of "fall" but I do agree it will be from within.

Russia is the very least of our challenges.
