This might be a good time to strike up a good friendship with Iran and normalize relations.
I know you hawks will hate that because it takes away a permanent boogeyman that you can always rely on just in case this ISIS thing loses steam. Iran is always a nice fallback when we run outta bad guys.
But it's worth considering.
I see the point, but it's the same mistake we always make of the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Typically, we naively think the group will be our friend, we (should) know that Iran will not.
The people in Iraq needed a brutal dictator to keep crap like ISIS from forming. Being greeted as liberators meant that people who form radical extremist religious sects have liberty to commit horrible acts!!!
We need to take these threats seriously. Let's not forget 9/11 and Boston bombings and among others attack or planned attacks.

There can be no exceptions if this scourge is going to be removed from the Earth. The religion of hate has to go. People can change, most of the folks in the Mid East would rather give up their religion than their children or their lives and without that cursed religion they may have a future.

Friend in the generic sense. We don't have any REAL friends anyway and we don't need them.
I see no good reason to maintain a hostile relationship with Iran at this point.
Doesn't work. For all intents and purposes there is an infinite supply of Jihadists. Kill a 100,000 and another 100,000 would appear.
And they are inextricably combined with more rational muslims who in no way deserve our enmity.
But if we go after the Jihadists we turn the friendlies into Jihadists.
i would think the only practical step would be to force the nuclear weapons out of Pakistan. It is only a matter of time until we end up at cross purposes with Pakistan and we ought to get that one straightened out first.
Other than that though it has to be a police action. The only other course would be full scale genocide.

Exactly! We lost a journalist, it sure isn't worth the life of an American serviceman. Not our country, not our problem.
