Around my town there are 5-foot wide bicycle lanes next to the motor roadway.
Where do bicyclists ride?
WITHIN ONE INCH OF THE WHITE LINE SEPARATING THE ROADWAY FROM THE BIKE LANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why, oh, why???????
In Sausilito, CA several years ago, the main drag was widened from two lanes to four lanes, with generous biccyle lanes on either side of the road. Guess how wide the bicycle lanes are today?
Freedom to drive as fast as i want on a back road to use a car to express yourself
Freedom to enjoy the operating of MY car and MY cellphone both at the same time
Freedom to use my car creatively. Such as drive in reverse at 60 miles per hour instead of always forward driving. My car will allow me to drive as fast as I want in reverse but this freedom is denied.
Freedom to swerve in and out of my lane as a form of freedom of expression, or as part of a religious ritual that should be protected under first amendment freedom of religion if I believe swerving into other lanes cleanses evil spirits under my religious beliefs that I wish to practice
A lot of freedom of expression crushed when it comes to cars
Freedom to use additional lighting for my car besides headlights such as rainbow lights or purple lights
Freedom to drive in an HOV lane without another passenger in the car if I imagine there's another passenger in the car. That's not allowing me freedom of imagination .
Instead, freedom to determine my own level of road safety based on track record of accidents I have caused
Well when you build your own private road on your own private land, you can do whatever you want on that road. Express away. However, if you want to drive on public roadways paid for by public tax dollars, you will follow the rules that the public has established and agreed to when they sign up for their driver's license. Pretty simple, eh?
OP - What does driving like an irresponsible maniac have to do with the First Amendment?
There are things called "Track Days" at privately owned road race courses that let anyone drive like this. When you can get your heap around Lime Rock in under a minute you can start bragging.
Actually, in most municipalities, it is a right. Just like walking down the street
Actually since a bicycle is classified as a motor vehicle, they must follow the same laws as a vehicle operator, so that would lead me to believe that operating a bicycling on a roadway is a privilege and not a right.

We must contact our local legislatures and city councils complain to them. I do it when I see my state bicycle advocate group try to push their anti vehicle special user laws for bicycles.

But you don't require license, tax, insurance, or any of the other things needed for travel.
You can get a DUI if you drive your lawnmower on the street while drinking a beer, just to make a uturn to make another pass at the yard. Same with a bike, a horse, even a damned wheel barrow could get you a DUI while drinking.
That said, in most cities and counties, riding a bike on the street is a freedom everyone has, with no restrictions, and cars have to watch out for them.

Hint. Autos still have only one lane to use!
That's california for you, bending over for special interest groups.
