According to this report here......

'Just a few strikes': Iraq militia wants help from old US foe

Iraqi's who once sought to kill Americans now wouldn't mind some air power help from us but insist no soldiers on the ground are wanted. Some Iraqi's insist they want NO help from us and want to take care of their own business in fighting ISIS.

Why should we help those who hate us otherwise? Or don't want our help? Today we fight ISIS, tomorrow we fight those others again. A culture of deep tribal, religious and ethnic rivalry and you think we can bring democracy to them?

They want help from us or there wouldn't be bombings there now.

Read the report, they say they don't mind some air support from us but don't want any of our boots on their ground. Some say they don't want any help at all. These are factions that once were targeting our soldiers now a few years later we help them with our air power.

I read some hard chargers on this forum and elsewhere saying lets go in full force troops and everything and all I can say is what a mistake that would be not to mention we are helping our enemy who usually wouldn't mind killing a American.

Iraqi's need to sort this out themselves

They dont want us to put boots on the ground? Good! Neither do I!

They do want us to run some airstrikes for them? Hmmm....These yahoos beheaded a US citizen. Sure, sounds good!

I'm not sure I see any downside here.

Ground troops are not needed. We just need to seek vengeance, the only universally understood concept in the middle east, for killing our citizen. Bombing and strafing sufficient to kill 500-1000 ISIS fighters would be an appropriate response. We don't need to worry about whom we may help or hurt - just get our revenge and make it clear that if it happens again it will be 10 times worse.

We're Americans.

In other words...we don't give a damn what the actual citizens of said country thinks.

What WE want is more important. We know better than the natives what they want and need.

Cuz we're stupid like that.

I wouldn't want the help of America either. We "helped" the citizens a decade ago and wound up killing thousands of civilians, let private armies do what they wanted, and give no bid contracts to enrich our companies at their expense. Even more insulting is when people champion how many are killed in Iraq the American media usually only counted the Americans like the life of an Iraq officer of civilian was below notice.

I'm more than happy to comply, including stopping ANY air or other support. There are 31 million people in Iraq-if they didn't want ISIS there, there would be no ISIS there. The people of Iraq SUPPORT and ARE ISIS. F helping ANYONE in the Middle East. We have lost far too many young Americans trying to help them and make the ME a better place. Get our people out, keep them out, and let Middle Easterners do what they do best-killing each other. There is nothing going on worth the loss of more American lives or the waste of the taxpayer's dollars.
