No, he wasn't.

The kid was arrested for disorderly conduct.

With all the mass murders that have occurred in schools in recent years, school officials might tend to be a little edgy when it comes to mention of guns and "taking care of business."

More here:

Police, lawyer release statements on student's alleged dinosaur - NBC12.com - Richmond, VA News

"Summerville police officials say Stone's book bag and locker were searched on Tuesday, and a gun was not found. According to police, when Stone was asked by school officials about the comment written on the assignment, he became "very irate" and said it was a joke.A Summerville Police Department report states that Stone continued to be disruptive and was placed in handcuffs, and was told that he was being detained for disturbing schools."

------------------------------------------

As is often the case, this story was presented in the most sensationalized, slanted manner in order to get folks all riled up. Judging from the response here, it worked, too. And it seems that most are willingly being manipulated into going along with it. Remember, the "media" is a profit-driven corporation that depends on getting viewers. They do that by making an emotional appeal, not a rational one.

He had every right to be irate. He writes about killing a dinosaur, the cops are called his belongings and lockers are searched. I would be mad at the lack of common sense shown by the school also.

That "lack of common sense" is called, zero tolerance. It was all the rage 20 years ago when the public thought that most teens were gangbangers and demanded it be implemented as a policy.

So we agree the school was lacking common sense.

We agree that the school was forced to adhere to a silly, failed, nonsense policy that was imposed on it by public pressure years ago.

I guarantee you that there is no rule requiring the school to call the police when a student writes some fiction about shooting a dinosaur. Yours is nothing more than an attempt to deflect blame.

I guarantee you there is edginess in school settings about a teen student making multiple writings about guns and taking care of business.

Feel free to be emotionally hooked by the skewed reporting, though. That's precisely what the "liberal media" (profit driven corporations) wants to elicit.

It couldn't have possibly been multiple writings as this occurred in the first week of school. This district, Dorchester 2, just started school on Monday.

Obviously you feel you are privy to info no one else has. I doubt it.

The police officer that arrested this kid should be fired. Period. The principal of this school should be, too. This is digusting. Can you imagine the lack of respect this decision is going to create in this school?
