Most gun owners prefer to keep them, in that context it doesn't matter whether they are confiscated or sold for a pittance under duress, both amount to the same thing.

A century ago the UK gun laws were the same as most states here, with guns readily available and licenses easy to get to carry them. And they had a lower crime rate than now. Their crime and murder rates have risen as they've tightened their gun laws.

Their crime rate is comparable or slightly higher than ours. Their murder rate is substantially lower.
