I have about 20-30 friends who are Brits, including some distant cousins that I stay in touch with. What does any of that have to do with your statement about crime rates?
The British control guns, manage to have a decent society, and have a murder rate 20% of what we have in the United States. Thinking the British are just a peaceable lot is incorrect. In many other areas their crime rate is higher than ours.
A century ago the UK gun laws were the same as most states here, with guns readily available and licenses easy to get to carry them. And they had a lower crime rate than now. Their crime and murder rates have risen as they've tightened their gun laws.
