If guns are Soo awesome... why is it gun stores post signs saying NO loaded weapons allowed?

It's a freak'n gun store and these are the NRA nuts at their best and they don't want to be around the things.

When I was 9 years old I was firing M-1 Garands under the auspices of the Office of the Director of Civilian Marksmanship (a Federal Agency), in an NRA affiliated Junior Rifle Club. Every summer the DCM sent us 6 M-1s and several thousand rounds of ammunition, some already in clips and some loose in ammo cans.
The members of our club fired it all, every year.
Nobody ever got shot.
I guess our instructors were smarter than that guy. I know those two guys taught several thousand kids over the years, and I don't think there was ever an accident.
Yes, only in America, and especially in Montana (and Wyoming), would kids have the chance to learn marksmanship and firearms safety long before joining the military.
Actual event:
Military range officer to my son: "Dang, kid, you're a good shot. Where you from?"
My son: "Montana."
Range officer: "I mighta known, it figures!"
Yes, only in America. It is NOT necessarily a BAD thing!
Yes, it turned out bad for the little girl.
I have no sympathy for the guy who got shot!

[quote=Mathguy;36252004]If you knew your history.......

Some of the big advantages of WW2 were typical draftees already being able to drive, fix machines and shoot a gun.

Also, my pretty blonde co-worker used a gun to keep herself from being raped and murdered one night while home alone.

So, maybe consider not being so rigidly conservative in your views? [/QUOT

Ok, so guns are good because we will be ready to go to war? That is not how I want to live. Maybe living in fear is common among some but it is not necessary. I understand that it is hard for us Americans to not revert to violence. If we are to advance, we need to move forward and not kill each other Otherwise, we are just another barbaric society. Maybe that is what we want???

Maybe you should read your reply and see if it really makes any sense.

I'm not saying it's a good idea for a 9 year old to run an Uzi, but when I was 9 I was driving some pretty big equipment on the farm. I could have easily killed myself or someone else but my Dad had faith in me. I did ok, came through it and didn't cause too much damage.

Doesn't anyone else see anything wrong with this picture? Doesn't anyone else see that not all firearms instructors are created equal. Doesn't anyone else feel that leaving your 9 year old in the hands of someone to learn firearms handling and safety would require careful scrutiny of that instructor for the first few lessons. Doesn't anyone else think the parents should have hollered "whoa there Rambo; put the Uzi back in it's cage, my daughter don't need range time on a damned UZI!"

What range would just have a full auto UZI handy on the firing line for an instructor's use without considering maybe it wouldn't be the best firearm to be allowed onto a firing line.

I see a lawsuit coming regardless if a waiver was signed releasing them from liability as a full-auto UZI should not have been made available to a 9 yr old novice.
The parents were actually taking cell phone video of their daughter shooting the uzi.

Eh? In pseudoparakindasocialist Denmark kids from 8-11 train and compete in pistol, rifle and summer biathlon (running and shooting). Heck, my nephew was quite the skeet talent at 12. He's been hunting since age 16.
